To Register: Understanding Workplace Injuries and Return-to-Work Services
Tuesday, Januray 21st at 8:30 am, presented via Zoom.
Speakers: Osten Ritcher
Overview:
This session will review the ways an organization can prepare for how to handle a workplace injury. This includes training on programs, communication, and the tools available to an organization should an injury occur. Although safety programming is paramount to prevent or lessen the severity of an injury, careful planning can mitigate the costs of an injury should one occur.
Takeaways:
Education: WSI offers free education programs, safety consultation, and certain non-chargeable services (if an injury occurs).
Planning: Creative contingency preparation leads to successful return-to-work.
Communication: Overcommunicating with employees both before and after a workplace injury may reduce costs.
Osten came into the workers’ compensation industry in 2010. As a claims adjuster, he has personally managed more than 5,000 individual claims across all North Dakota industries. For the past 4 years, he has worked in the role of Director of Return-to-Work Services for WSI, coordinating the nurse case management, vocational case management, and special programming needed for the more complex and catastrophic injuries. As a veteran himself, Osten was honored to accept a 2024 appointment to Governor Burgum’s Task Force to enact legislation to assist North Dakota veterans.
