One
of the earliest endeavors was the establishment of the annual wage and
salary survey in 1978. The survey polls local businesses regarding their
salary and wage programs and publishes the information for
participating chapter members. The survey continues today.
The
first state conference was held in 1978 but did not become an annual
event until the state council was formed in 1985. This annual event
includes all the chapters in North Dakota and has become a tradition of
learning, sharing, and networking.
State Council was formed in
1985 and acts as a liaison between the national SHRM organization and
the local SHRM chapters. Individuals from each chapter are elected or
appointed to fill director positions.
In 1979, the Tri-College
Student Personnel Association was formed to enhance the professional
development of students preparing for the personnel field. The name of
the chapter was changed to the Student Human Resource Association in
1990 echoing the changes made by SHRM and FMHRA. The student chapter is
made up of students from North Dakota State University, Minnesota State
University Moorhead and Concordia College. The Student Liaison from the
FMHRA Board assists in the leadership development and the programming
for the student chapter.
