Program Summary:

XR for HR: Immersive Media for Workforce Development

Overview:  Extended Reality (XR) is a diverse set of technologies encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and 360-degree immersive media. Although they are not yet widely adopted, organizations embracing these technologies are beginning to see profound impacts in how they recruit, equip, and train their employees. In this session, attendees will hear about some inspiring use cases for immersive technology in HR, learn about software and hardware tools that can be readily adapted to their environments, and be introduced to CareerViewXR, a locally produced immersive media career exploration platform that is quickly gaining national attention.

Learning Objectives:
  • Ability to explain the difference between XR, VR, AR, MR, and 360-degree media
  • Familiarity with industry standard hardware and software for both creating and consuming immersive media
  • Identify several opportunities at their organization to explore various XR technologies for training, recruiting, and as on-the-job tools
  • Learn about the CareerViewXR initiative and opportunities to become involved
Matt Chaussee is the CEO and Co-Founder of Be More Colorful, an immersive media technology company based in Fargo, ND. Matt along with his wife and Co-Founder Katie lead a team of creative and technical professionals who use emerging technology to help solve big workforce development problems. Their flagship product, CareerViewXR, is an immersive media platform that helps promote earlier and more diverse career exploration by bringing the jobsite into the classroom.

Career exploration, work-based learning and talent development, oh my!  Connecting your company with future talent across the region.

Overview:  In today’s world, being able to share the amazing opportunities and careers at your organization as broadly as possible is super important.  While systems exist for adult job seekers, there hasn’t really been a scalable platform to educate today’s students on your amazing opportunities in a scalable way – until now.  Learn about how Compass by Golden Path Solutions is working with high schools across the state of North Dakota to give you a simple, scalable way of connecting with every high school and every student to help you get your company in front of tomorrow’s workforce today.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn how to create an account for your company in Compass & how to share your contact information and opportunities across the state (including schools in Minnesota)
  • Understand how options available to you in Compass, including work-based learning, career profiles, and events can drive interest in your organization with the raw talent you’re looking for.
  • Identify best practices in connecting with students, including best practices in career fairs, site visits, work-based learning, career awareness, job shadows, etc.
  • Learn how to work with schools, career advisors, and teachers to make sure students are learning the things you need them to know for their future career.
Patrick Mineer is the founder & CEO of Golden Path Solutions, a system that brings together students, employers, and schools for career exploration and workforce development.  Patrick earned his BA from Minnesota State University Moorhead and has held a variety of roles since then in oil exploration, marketing, consulting, and finance before founding Blue Fire Consulting in 2012 and Golden Path Solutions in 2019.  Patrick serves on several boards and advisory groups for BSC, NDSU, and the Dakota Medical Foundation, and is currently serving as the MinnDak Manufacturers Association president.  Patrick resides in Fargo, North Dakota.
