About the Speakers:
Kristal Johnson: Kristal has worked at Blue Cross of ND as the Benefits & Leave Partner and Safety Coordinator in Human Resources for 6 years. She administers the benefits and leave and disability programs for BCBSND active employees and assists with the benefits for the retiree population. She has over 20 years’ experience in the human resources, wellness, and the safety arena. In 2022, Kristal received her mental health first aid certificate and has found the training to be invaluable. She has been an emergency responder at Blue for 5 years.
Mental health/wellbeing and safety have always been some of Kristal’s passions. Kristal started and has led the Safety/Safe Lifts Committee at BCBSND since 2018. She has been involved in the emotional well-being group/committee from its conception prior to 2020 and recently (and graciously) began leading the committee composed of members of Wellness, the Caring Foundation, IDBE and HR. She is proud to work for a company who has the executive support for not only mental health and wellbeing, but also inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging.
Pete Seljevold: Since 2009 Pete has served as the Program Administrator for BCBSND North Dakota Worksite Wellness Initiative.
The goal of the initiative is to improve the health status of employees, employers and families in North Dakota by creating worksites that encourage and support healthy behaviors and to provide support, guidance and resources to North Dakota businesses offering wellness programs and health promotion activities at their worksites.
He has over 35 years’ experience in the fitness and wellness arena; ranging from adult fitness programming, cardiac rehab, athletic enhancement training, strength and conditioning, community health programming and worksite wellness.
Stacey Nathan: Stacey has been blessed to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 17 years in the Talent Development space. The job and the work have evolved every year to ensure the ever-changing needs of the employees are met. Her experience has covered many aspects of talent development from welcoming new employees, facilitating courses from customer service, competencies, values, coaching, crucial conversations and many more.
One of the best elements of her career has been the relationships she has built and partnering with the people of Blue in their career development and setting employees up to be their best. She holds a variety of certifications, but the one that she is most proud of is her mental health first aid certificate. People are her passion, and she strives to create a safe space for people to talk about hard topics, celebrate wins, seek advice, and build trusting relationships.
