Biography:
Kristina Astrup is the HR Training and Development Manager at Discovery Benefits, Inc. She is responsible for onboarding and training employees in HIPAA, Red Flags Rule, Product 101 courses, Customer Service, and Quality processes. She is a Certified Real Colors Facilitator and currently serves as the VP of Special Programs for the FM-ASTD. Kristina graduated from Concordia College with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Art. She received her master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Mary.

HIPAA= Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
As an HR professional you should be familiar with HIPAA and what it entails. Many organizations that are affected by this influential legislation do not fully understand the intentions behind the law or the rules that accompany it. HIPAA secures important health care rights, and every company that provides health insurance should be familiar with it.
