To Register: College Relations Day: A Start to Attracting and Supporting Young Talent
Tuesday, October 4th | 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Presented: Avalon Events Center OR Virtual
Speakers: Joe Tjosvold (Chez-vold) and Emma McIntyre
Program Summary:
Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College, North Dakota State University and M State add about 25,000 students to the Fargo-Moorhead area. With an obvious need for an expanding workforce, our community’s challenge is convincing these 25,000 students to stay in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
In this session we’ll talk about how potential employers can support younger employees to get them active in the community and their careers. Joe, a St. Paul native, chose to stay in Fargo-Moorhead after his graduation from MSUM, and Emma, a Fargo native, chose to move back after her graduation from the University of Northern Colorado. They'll share their stories of what motivated them to pick Fargo.
Key Takeaways:
1. How to identify a potential mentor/mentee
2. How to engage with your mentor/mentee
3. What kind of questions to ask your mentor/mentee
4. Why you should bet on younger teammates and how to feel in touch with them
About the Speakers:
Joe Tjosvold (Chez-vold) is from St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Minnesota State University Moorhead studying finance & marketing. Joe was very active on campus as a football player and part of many student organizations. He racked up 6 internships for various positions by his junior year which became boring to him so he started Advertise Edge, Chezy’s parent company in 2017. Joe holds many roles within Advertise Edge but his main responsibility is building a culture where creativity thrives.
Emma McIntyre is the Director of Community Development at Chezy where her role includes relationship building and client success. Prior to her work at Chezy, she spent her time in the community working on projects like SheStartsWeek, TEDxFargo, and StartupBREW Fargo. Emma is a cheerleader for the region, and currently serves on the Organizing Committee for She Starts Week, as well as the Board of Directors for the Great Plains Food Bank. A Fargo native, she chose to move back to the area after graduating from the University of Northern Colorado.
