Program Summary:
This session will walk participants process of investigation beginning with the intake and through the findings of fact. Participants will get an overview of investigative planning, interviewing, conducting credibility assessments and making findings as well as lots of practical tips for ensuring an investigation is competent, complete and defensible.
Learning Objectives:
1. To understand all of the components of an effective employment investigation
2. To understand and be able to execute a five-stage investigative interview
3. To be able to create a comprehensive investigative plan
4. To be able to use all available tools to assess witness credibility
5. To become familiar with various ways to structure an investigative report
About the Speaker:
Fran Sepler is a nationally recognized expert in the field of workplace complaints, employee relations and employment investigations, and the author of “Finding the Facts: What Every Workplace Investigator Needs to Know.” Her firm, Sepler & Associates, located in Minneapolis, was founded in 1991 to address the emerging issues of discriminatory harassment and the challenges of diversity. She has conducted over 1200 employment investigations and provided expert advice to hundreds of employers and attorneys regarding the proper techniques for conducting investigations.
