When trying to recruit someone from another city or state, have you heard the following responses “Fargo? I saw that movie.” “It’s really cold there isn’t it?” “Fargo, what’s in Fargo?”
We all know that recruiting someone from outside the area can be a challenge which is why the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation has teamed up with local employers and area universities to build awareness and create a better understanding of the Fargo Moorhead community.
In the late 1990’s a group of area employers recognized that recruiting collectively with community support is easier than recruiting alone. We have a great community, with good schools, safe neighborhoods and an affordable cost of living, and we just need to get that message out.
The Labor Council of the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation will discuss: a brief history of the EDC along with local economic challenges; how employers can work together to build the Fargo Moorhead brand and sell the community; how we can target certain audiences including alumni and why that works; and finally, what we have in Fargo Moorhead that makes this a great place to live.
This session is pending 1.0 general recertification credits from HRCI.
